On its last day in London, I managed to catch the Louis Vuitton Series 3 exhibition.
Series 3 relives creative director Nicolas Ghesquière’s Autumn-Winter 2015/2016 collection for Louis Vuitton, unmasking his creative process.
More than just a simple collection, the exhibition refers to itself as a melting pot of “stream of consciousness, dreams and self-reflexive journeys”. As the programme puts it, it’s an “adventure along the emotional corridors of Louis Vuitton”.
Spanning the past, present and future, the exhibition delves inside Ghesquière’s creative mind and uncovers his treasure chest of inspiration.
My favourite part of the exhibition? The “Artists’ hands”, where attendees were able to witness experienced hands setting to work on La Petite Malle and the Dora – two of LV’s “new classics”– in real-time.
I also got lost in the “Infinite Show”, a room filled with multiple screens each replaying moments from the A/W 2015/2016 fashion show. Accompanied by the song: Found I Had This Thing (Gener8ion Remix) by Röyksopp, models such as Freja Beha were shown to work the catwalk in statement Vuitton pieces.
